America’s Best Dance Crew Recap Disco Challenge

Posted in America's Best Dance Crew with tags , , , , , , , , , , on March 12, 2010 by kayiancouture

Last week the crews took on the styles of lady gaga but the big shock was no elimination so basically the crews were granted a second chance to impress America and the voters. Even though two crews were safe this week there is going to be two eliminations next week. Another ABDC first was that one crew was granted immunity which was Blue Print Cru. This week is the Disco Challenge and the top seven crews still stand…

Crews

Blue Print Crew- They made the best of their performances last week with their lady gaga challenge, but for all the crews, they were challenged by incorporating a lift in their routine.

Their performance this week was interesting; however it wasn’t one of my favorites. What I did like about this crew was that they incorporated not one but two lifts along with creating a soul train line as well.  Blueprint Cru really had fun with this week’s routine which and they did what they came to do and that was perform. Another thing I liked about this crew this week was that they added their original style of dancing which is basically a mix of other styles if that makes any sense. Overall, it was a creative and fun piece and I honestly don’t have anything bad to say about this crew this week.

Saltare- Honestly they should’ve been in the bottom two this week because their routine was 1 and 2 and but I guess America had a different point of view. So far the bottom two is occupied by Static Noyze will they be able to put on a killer performance and keep them safe from the double elimination??

Their performance this week was dramatic, they started off perfect with this week’s challenge and they continued to give a memorable performance. What I liked about their performance was that they took risks. For example, they didn’t use ropes for a reasonable amount of time and they had fun with their performance. I also liked how they took another chance by playing with fire yes I said it FIRE!!!!  They executed mule kicks while their ropes were on fire. BIG RISK.  Overall their performance was memorable and interesting however the judges wanted to see more dancing and less dramatics. In the judge’s opinion they liked parts of it and disliked the dancing of the lack there of.

Poreotix- Was one of my favorite performances of the night and in my opinion they were given an easy challenge by incorprating the robot in their routine.  Honestly they did Michael Jackson proud with this performance. It was very clean and it was interesting.  What I liked about their performance was that they showed the judges that they were versatile.  Overall they grabbed the judge’s attention and hopefully it can keep them safe this week.

Heavy impact and Jungle Boogie are going to keep Static Noyze Company in the bottom three.

Hype-5-0- Honestly they needed to go home since day one!!!! But America again had a different point of view. Their performance this week was uninteresting the only highlight form this performance was that one of them added the “dip” form the vogue scene.  The judges didn’t like how they were in the center of the stage for a chunk of their performance and that they did a lot of prep time in this performance and honestly I think they are the next ones to go home.

Heavy Impact- Heavy Impact’s performance was quite humorous and it also had a moral to their performance which was “Bigger is better” I commend them for adding a message to their performance this week however may have been humorous, it was also risky at the same time.  I really have nothing to say about this crew because they lost their appeal to the audience.

Static Noyze- sadly they were a crew member short due to a back injury form their week two dress rehearsal but overall their performance this week was a bit disappointing because I believe they did not add their “Avant-Garde-ness” and the reason why I admired this crew was for their Avant-Garde style.  Honestly I can give them some type of credit for still performing but I know deep down they were thinking about him throughout the entire performance.

Jungle Boogie- Honestly it was the best performance of the night.  Week after week they never cease to amaze me with their rather interesting style which came in full effect this week. Overall the performance was flawless and interesting. Not only did they incorporate the lift done my Rocki but they also added more styles to this performance which I greatly admired that night. Another thing to note about this performance was that it felt like I was watching an episode of Good Times, it was just that interesting

At the end of the show sadly Static Noyze was eliminated along with Heavy Impact. First of all, I demand a recount!!! Sure Static’s performance was a little disappointing, but they were so different form these other crews but again, America had a different point of view. Honestly Heavy Impact needed to go since last week because of their uninteresting lady gaga performance. Next week on America’s Best Dance Crew the theme is Usher Week and another crew will be eliminated (hopefully hype).

America’s Best Dance Crew Recap Lady Gaga Challenge

Last week on America’s Best Dance Crew, Jungle Boogie, Static Noyze and Hype 5-0 made it fierce, Heavy Impact gave sensuality but, Blueprint Cru and Saltare bombed their performance. Luckily week six was considered a savior week because no one was eliminated however next week the crews will face a double elimination. The challenge for this week was the long awaited Lady Gaga challenge. Crews showed their dance skills to such songs as “Beautiful Dirty Rich”, “Paparatzi”, “Pokerface”, “Bad Romance” and more.  Up first to experience and conquer the challenge was one of my personal favorites, Static Noyze

Static Noyze- Static Noyze infused their theatrical style with their outrageous sense of fashion to Lady Gaga’s “Beautiful Dirty Rich.” Their challenge was to best incorporate the table in their routine which I think they did a good job with. Peter from this crew played Lady Gaga and I think he did a hell-of-a good job…He killed that vogue dip and I think he demanded the crowd’s attention with this performance. I thought the tutting section with their legs was very new and fresh to the competition. From begging to end, their dance was very clean and it kept us guessing for a short time, but I did enjoy this crew’s performance

Blueprint Cru- OMG!!! They needed this scapegoat seriously, but it wasn’t their fault because the song selection was quite difficult and they chose to do the hardest piece last week. Their song for the Gaga challenge was “Bad Romance”. Let me tell you it was very Avant-Garde and mysterious. It was very original and signature to their crews name. Their wardrobe however was very brave…the females wore this blood red sheer outfit and the men almost resembled Hannibal. JC stated that this was the best performance of season five. Honestly I agree with him; it was very memorable not just for their look, but their whole routine was just flawless….I guess they have that mentality that “we aint gonna be in the bottom again” The B-boy section was very daring and it really required a lot of physical strength and I was super impressed.

Jungle boogie- Honestly I didn’t like this performance at all… Their song was “Telephone” featuring Ms. Sasha Fierce…Jungle boogie was one of my personal favorites, but this week may cost them to be in the bottom two next week. Two of the crew members were lost and confused and it was noticeable let me tell you…The performance as a whole was very “safe” and “sloppy”

Heavy Impact- Their performance was very “hype man ish” I did however like that they tried to interpret the subway railing into their routine. Overall the performance to “Love Game” was very plain. It had it points where you were like “OMG” but it was just nice to look at I guess. One of the crew members tired to get the audience hype and dismounted off the subway seat to a back flip which was sloppy and noticeable but I did however enjoy the attempt.

Hype 5-0- Hype 5-0’s routine song was one of my favorites, “Pokerface” they tried to incorporate the hand performance in the Gaga’s music video. Honestly they had a little bit of difficulty doing it but I honestly didn’t see the difficulty at all. It was nothing more than basic vogueing. The performance started off very Avant-Garde but it was very displeasing and disappointing. Honestly they do better when they are in the bottom two, under pressure than being safe to see another week.

Poreotics- Poreotics is another one of my favorite crews because they incorporate humor into their routines. They decided to use crutches to their interpretation of “paparazzi” which I think resembled something Saltare would do. But the performance was very interesting and humorous.  Poreotics took their tutting to the next level by having their hands to their backs, which I thought required a lot of practice and precision to get it just right. The middle of the performance was quite dull but I can’t throw shade at them because they are just that interesting.  The crew as a whole, were very precise, together and on point and I think they would make it to see another week.

Saltare- Saltare….Saltare…Saltare, you was touched by an angel let me tell you….last week’s performance was like WHATTHEHELLZ but due to the voting issues, they praised God. Had this not would’ve happened GUARENTEE you they would’ve gone home. Their song selection I thought was quite ironic because they don’t dance….that’s right their song was “Just Dance” I thought the dancing was very “1 and 2 and…” but in the middle of the performance they decided to stick to their strengths by using the jump ropes. Overall it was a decent recovery and the judges continued to admire Saltare once again.

At the end of the only one crew was granted immunity from elimination for next week’s challenge and it was…..BLUEPRINT CRU’S very Avant-Garde performance….Next week they are going back in time to the retro and nostalgic 1970’s who will be eliminated??? Maybe Hype 5-0 and Jungle Boogie or Heavy Impact and Jungle Boogie.

Royal Flush Gets Flushed…….

.

America’s Best Dance Crew Music Video Challenge was indeed a “challenge” for all the crews. Some public favorites like Saltare and Blueprint Cru fell short that week facing harsh criticism from Omarion and J.C.  However, Hype 5-0, Static Noyze and Jungle Boogie made quite a memorable performance bringing all the elements of dance such as Jazz, Hip-Hop and of course a fan favorite VOGUE!!!! But will it be enough to keep them for another week?? Find out Thursday at 10:00 pm on mtv.

Now for the Bad news…..Due to Blueprint’s unorganized week one routine, it cost them a slot in the bottom two along with Royal Flush. Personally I am not a fan of Royal Flush mainly because their routines are copied and they put a card trick to make it signature but for all ABDC stands WE KNOW when its original and when its copied. So at the end of the show it was down to Blueprint and Royal Flush. Though I may contradict my last statement, but Royal Flush actually did great for their week two performance but Blueprint didn’t do so well because of the song selection. They were given Omarion’s “I Get It In.” For those that know the music video, Blueprint tired to mimic the handstand portion which two of the members fell while doing the handstand and even Omarion himself stated that “It was very difficult to do and I will just take it as it is…” and at the end of the show Blueprint was basically given another chance resulting in Royal Flush’s demise and their banner fell

My predictions for this week episode: As you may or may not know, week three is GAGA week!!!!! J. I predict that Blueprint and Saltare will be in the bottom two which may result in Saltare going home… but hey if Royal Flush stayed for the regional’s and two weeks, anything is possible.
