I Know It’s a Recession, but DAMN!!!!

Based on the new activities on the recession day by day it seems nearly impossible for anyone to have nice things or even enjoy romantic activities/events like a wedding anymore, however a local newlywed couple made it possible for under $50.00 thats right $50.00

Now your probably asking yourself what event did they plan for a budget under $50.00??? well it was their wedding. As the title says, “I know we are in  recession, but damn” but it’s not all bad they seem to love each other  despite the lack of “diva-ness”  they made it possible by moving around household furniture and increasing space to create the wedding chapel and rose petals on the carpet. Talk about something used lol!!! Instead of a nice spread of appetizers and delicious wine and such, they had Dixie cups and buy one get one free on chips and finger foods such as crackers and various Kraft cheeses. It brings a new definition to the term GHETTO!!!! however the two most expensive things and i use that term lightly came from their wedding cake probably bought from Publix and the wedding dress probably from faith 21.  Honestly WHATTHEHELLZ!!!!????? but the guy didn’t look so bad either. It looks as if he was wearing a suit probably form after hours or it could be just a regular red button up layered with a signature blazer and dark jeans or dress pants. Even though it must have been special for them, it was absolutely humiliating for all who took part in the wedding. Best of luck……WHATTHEHELLZ


What ever happened to……

What ever happened to designer brands like Ed Hardy, Affliction and Pastelle???  As we know the first two designer brands were popular before the recession and a bit during the recession, but it seems to have vanished off the face of the fashion industry. Personally, Ed Hardy was bound to vanish into the darkness because their designs were “out there” and not alot of people could the comprehend Christian Audigier’s vision but honestly his vision was left to question. Affliction however was more higher end and more popular but it was more expensive also. You don’t really see people our age wearing Affliction now-a-days but your couldn’t turn a corner without seeing Affliction back in 2008- early 2009. In comparison to Abercrombie, there really isn’t a demand for higher end clothing anymore, instead consumers are looking for more bargains i.e. Forever 21 and Plato’s Closet.

Ed Hardy is still hanging in there even though they are outrageously priced it still doesn’t stop consumers from passing a store model and looking in admiration hoping that one day it could be them……A WORK OF ART

Affliction to me was like the more snob-ish cousin of Ed Hardy serving a little more customers than its cousin but Affliction has an edge on the competion. Why did I just say that?? well Affliction often takes their merchandise to the UFC and allowing them to model their collections along with celebrities. Speaking of celebrities their “meal ticket” in my opinion would have to be Mindfreak’s  own Chris Angel. I mean in every episode he is constantly rocking something new from their line but it would be a good idea for them to merge if they haven’t already.  Despite their celebrity support,  Affliction will never be the same again thanks to the recession.

Pastelle….Pastelle…Pastelle… tisk tisk tisk

For those of you who don’t know Pastelle, it was suppose to be Rap Artist’s Kanye West’s line but Unfortunately, it won’t be released EVER!!!  According to New York Fashion, they saw West as a meticulous designer even after working on Pastelle for over a year, he only produced four Pastelle pieces, including three articles of clothing and a belt. But if he eventually created enough clothing to shoot what appeared to be a look book, why all of a sudden take it all back?

Perhaps Kanye is the kind of creator who is never satisfied. The kind of creator who never sees the genius in his own work. Karl Lagerfeld may dash off sketch after sketch and produce outfit after outfit, but maybe Kanye torments himself over every detail, never able to reconcile his vision with the resulting physical product. And so he has scrapped that which will never be good enough  in his eyes. Either that, or this is just some elaborate hoax to drum up more press and excitement for the line Kanye’s reps say he will eventually launch.

Sadly we shall never see Pastelle but it was said that he was working on another line that should be released very soon so keep us posted Kanye…

Pastelle in my opinion was like the male equalivalent of Hellz-Bellz. Hellz was considered Punk-Retro and Pastelle is considered new age Street-Retro, you decide… Anywho here is some of his works or art provided by

“AAA” Aeropostalle vs. Abercrombie and Fitch vs. American Eagle

As you may or may not know alot of your favorite stores might be changing their image or target ages based on the latest trends. With that being said, I chose to review the three most common “college look” stores, Aeropostalle, Abercrombie and Fitch and American Eagle.

First let’s start off with Aeropostalle: In my opinion, I believe that Aeropostalle would have to be one of the most bargain hunting stores in America because they constantly give the consumer exactly what they want…VARIETY!!! For example, this week’s promotion is 50% off Tops and Jeans would probably be filed under most reasonable price point stores in the beginning of March. They did however have a buy one get one free on graphic tees and I think drove consumers crazy. I mean they were having a field day with that particular promotion and it didn’t stop there either, most consumers who were considered “frequent shoppers” had their $10.00 off when you spend $40.00 or whatever the max amount may be along with their BOGO so it was a steal honestly. However it’s the oldest trick in retail, it just encourages consumers to buy more so consider it inflation (alot of money chasing limited goods and services). One more thing to note is that based on me working there, I seen they make most their money from graphic tees or camisoles.

Abercrombie and Fitch however, has quite a bit of difficulty attracting American consumers without losing their “upscale-ity” and without losing their “classic cool” image. Throughout the years, Abercrombie constantly changes its appearance based on today’s trend. A good example of this would be in 2007-2008 Abercrombie was widely known for their outrageous graphic tees and rather reasonable accessories but when the American consumer realized we were in a recession, Abercrombie I guess decided to increase their price point on everything. In other words Delfation (limited money chasing higher priced goods and services.) Honestly it was a dumb move and they realized it because their sales sharpely fell during their recession and they had the nerve to expand their company to give birth to Ruehl and Gilly Hicks WHATTHEHELLZ. Despite that Abercrombie isn’t all bad, they finally came to their senses and realized that “hey we aren’t making as much as we use to” so Abercrombie, Hollister and Gilly hicks  which is all ran by Abercrombie decided to have gasp SALES!!!!! I mean they aren’t as good as consumers expect it be but I guess it’s a new idea for Abercrombie. Another thing I noticed is that during the end of 2007-all of 2008, they were going through this Neo-classical phase (conservative) image and now it’s more “chillaxed” maybe they decided to be less GASP “STOOSH”

American Eagle in my opinion use to be one of the big dogs back in the day but they seem to be slipping now because Aeropostalle came and and took over. There really isn’t anything to say about American Eagle besides that they also went through almost the same changes as Abercrombie however, American Eagle did it a little sneakier. American Eagle slowly raised their prices on merchandise rather than the brutal spike that Abercrombie did primarily because American Eagle actually cared about their consumer’s lol
